I feel ya. As a buyer of instruments on both TB and Reverb, my only broad complaint is that sellers consistently package the instrument with little regard for the handling that it is likely to see during shipping.
Specifically, instruments need to be protected by shipping materials inside their cases (or outside of their gig bags) to keep them from moving around, and the shipping box should have dense foam (or multiple layers of quality bubblewrap) at both ends. Bonus points for reinforcing the box ends with additional corrugated under the end flaps.
I have started asking for pictures of the packing process as a condition of the sale, so as to offer constructive criticism in the hope of avoiding problems for the seller and disappointment for myself. Maybe that's a good place to start.
