Understanding these you can put together something similar to Bose PAS, or Fishman SoloAmp for a lot less cash.

Line arrays also explain why stacking cabinets like two 2x10's vertical is best.
 
My humble offerings: I admit that I have an odd compulsion where I have to understand how all of my gear works. Most of the details that I provide are probably unnecessary for routine speaker design. Another motivation was that people would discuss speakers, and somebody would make a claim based on "physics." That got me wondering: What physics? I decided to find out. The irony is that after all of this effort, the speaker design that I chose is really pretty mundane.

But I learned a lot. The hardest two things for me were understanding what a speaker can and can't do, and deciding what I wanted.

None. The mere reference of Skin Effect on a site other than to debunk it removes it from any serious consideration IMO. As for the concept of wire 'burn in', absolute total bloody piffel. :rollno:

One you've drawn your cabinet, you can calculate the internal volume using one of the "Volume" calculators at:

Hint: Temporarily plug the end of ports so they won't be considered in the calculated volume.

I have one of the "Len's Cabs" that I built. I long ago fried the woofer. This week I dropped an Eminence BP102-4 in place of the eight ohm speaker that has been in there for the last five plus years. The eight ohm was well suited to the cab, but not the crossover. The BP102-4 is well suited to both. I like the speaker better this was than with the eight ohm. I didn't really have that much time with the original Peerless before it got fried to say better or worse. The point is moot. You can't get the Peerless anymore, at least not easily. The BP102-4 is a good woofer for the cab and given there are few alternatives, I highly recommend it.

I've got a pair of Eden cast frame four ohm 12's that I'd like to find a home for. There are no T/S parameters to be found. I found this site when looking for a way to get enough of the T/S parameters that I can get the low end.
