Calling all headbangers-Need help completing a playlist project.

Just one more thing...Sammy Hagar doing a song called “Heavy Metal”... ‘Anthem’ of metal? What? That was a soundtrack to a movie tied in to the old science fiction/fantasy/graphic novel magazine at the time that went by that name(a phrase attributed to William Burroughs, and first mentioned in a rock song by Steppenwolf, referring to motorcycles). Don Felder of the Eagles(a band I always associate with headbanging)performed a different song by that title. But, anthem? Uhhh, if I had to narrow it down to one song, the true essence, the singular work, the epitome, it would be this...

No one has a clip of Sabbath or Zeppelin, or any other ‘Metal’ band from the 70’s
where people are Slam dancing aka: ‘moshing’ Nobody
did that in the 70’s but punk bands.

Those were "white man's blues" bands, not heavy metal

So out of a whole set of Zep's stolen cover songs, you might have one uptempo tune that would keep a bunch of drugged out hippies awake (let alone start a pit).

Who's going to jump around to Sabbath's NIB at 105 BPM, lol ?

It would probably take The Stooges "Metallic KO" in the early 70s to put some lead in the crowd's pencil.

I saw the reunion where Dio rejoined Sabbath in the 2000s, and hell yes there was a pit for Neon Nights.

Of course now you have mega pits at EDM concerts, so yeah......

I've been trying to create a chronological heavy metal playlist encompassing all important bands, and genres. This is where I am so far, but I know I've probably overlooked some things. Particularly my post 2000 knowledge is a bit sparse.

I'd like to get input on it as is and any suggestions for things I've over looked.

Epic!
Thanks an awesome undertaking. Good luck.

there is a very famous pic. of Cliff Burton live on stage, with a Dead Kennedy’s sticker on his bass. Now, I don’t know if you know who they are, but
they’re a Punk band. You think that was an accident? Listen to Metallica. then listen
to the Kennedys, then listen to Sabbath. Metallica sounds way more like the Kennedys
than they do like Black Sabbath.

I always thought that the Kennedys were Metallica.

Show me any footage where both bands are performing on stage at the same time.

You can't, because there isn't any
