A bit OT:

I've never done any inlays, though, I've always found it interesting. Don't the frets have to be removed in order to do the work properly?

You don't have to remove the frets to do the work, but removing them makes it way easier and faster - hence, cheaper.

I inlaid a board on one of my first guitars by working around the frets. Routing the holes for the inlays and setting them was easy, the hard part was finishing them without damaging frets. I remember I did it that way because I had never refretted a guitar and thought it would be "too hard", so instead I spent about 20 hours fiddling around to get them level and smooth...

I've done inlay a few times, if your frets are on the board it will take much longer. When you install inlay, you leave them a little high and sand down. Fingerboards have a radius, inlays are flat. It could be done but it might be pricey. The easiest way is to wait for a re-fret, I know you want it now..lol..What kind of fingerboard do you have? Natural or hard finish?

We read "reasonably" as cheaply, we read "quickly" as low quality, and we read "clean workmanship" as an insult.

Speaking for myself I do the absolute best work on anything I touch. It is "reasonable" to those that understand and respect the art that is luthiery. Sometimes it is not quick. My work is guaranteed to be right not "right now."

You will hear echos from other "clean workmanship" builders.

What are "Alembic dots?"

Oh...I goofed. First.. My apologies to the forum, it was neither my intent or purpose to insult anyone in this tread. What i really meant to ask was where or who could assist me in a completion of a project that I would like to finished by inserting MOP Alembic style dot inlay markrs on a 5 string scroll neck that I have,. Who like to acquire prices and estimated wait times.

You keep saying Alembic dots and I am not familiar with any specialties that Alembic does with dots. Are these regular dot inlays?

They're standard dots that Alembic uses. Thanks for the advice, i'll check it out.
