Carvin LB-75A, I use this for pretty much most applications
Carvin XLB-76F, my fretless for when I need...well a fretless!
LeCompte ST-4, I use this for slapping and soloing

I have 13, including an EUB, 2 fretless (a 4 and a 5), an acoustic and assorted 4, 5 and 6 stringers. Each has its own character, tone, etc.

I have six, all for a different purpose, but I am tending to gravitate toward two or three mainly. I am certainly no collector, though - each bass needs a functional purpose for gigging. I am still trying to avoid the GAS problem with a Rickenbacker 8 string mocking me from the music store - I'd love to have it, but I just can't figure out how useful it would be.
1) Rickenbacker 4001 - I've had this thing since 1978 - for years this was my only bass. Aside from the obvious Rick attributes, I am so accustomed to this bass, it plays like butter.
2) Fender Precision Deluxe (the one with the additional jazz pick-ups and jazz neck) - I just got this one mainly for slapping and popping. The Rickenbacker's action is a bit low for popping as much as I do and I lose too much volume on the slaps, so I needed something to slap and pop.
3) Ibanez acoustic - this one is for practice and working out arrangements without setting up the amps. I keep this one out to pick up whenever I have an extra five minutes or more. I tend to write my songs on this one.
4) Ephiphone Explorer - this is mainly for visual effect, but it plays really well, too. I get a really deep sound from this baby, so it fits in where the others don't.
5) Epihphone Flying V - this is entirely for visual effect. I'm not crazy about the feel of this bass (neck scale is too short), but the sound is good and it looks great (I got it to match my guitarist's flying V).
6) Kramer Focus P-Bass Copy - I picked this up as a replacement when my Rick needed work and I didn't have the other basses yet. This is the best cheap bass I have ever owned, but since I got the Fender, I expect to use this bass pretty rarely.

One year ago I had 12, since then I have thinned out to my current group of 4 + one custom on order. I found that I didn't really have the space to keep the basses and I certainly didn't play them all, so out they went.
Right now I have:

I own too many basses. Currently I own 14. I use most of them regularly. When I notice that I'm not using a bass, I usually get rid of it. I play enough gigs with variety that I can actually use all them.
My favorites always go back to what you started on. I played 6 strings only for awhile, started going back to 4 strings, but lately I find myself playing my Modulus Genesis and '77 jazz bass. Guess what instrument I started playing first??

I have 11 at this time. All but two of them are 4 strings, and besides my fretted and fretless Fenders, I don't own two of the same brand or model.
Since I've become comfortable with the B and C strings I've been giving a lot of thought about selling a couple of my 4-strings off to help finance another 5-string (Lull PJ5) or a nice combo amp.
