Can anyone help identify this 1960's bass?

I've been wanting to figure out what type of bass this is for the longest time. My dad got this bass (used) in 1968 - not much more information than that available. There are absolutely no markings for the manufacturer on the bass. P-bass style, with tone and volume controls. Fretboard markers are placed on the edge, and neck is bound. Unsure of pickup type.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

I've seen fret markers like that on Teisco guitars. I'm 99% sure yours is a Teisco.

Hey i had one of those in parts just gave it back to the guy who gave it to me a month ago..weird looking things. It is a Tiesco the one the Tber posted BTW the markings give it away.

The fret markings give it a dating too...

1964 to 1966

The tuners were used from '64 and '65, then changed for 66 on...

If his pick guard is plastic, it's a '64... Metal, a '65...

While looking for infor to help here, I foiund a primo '65 Del Ray 4 stringer ( They had a 6 stringer too !!! ) for sale for something like $400.00, but this one looked like a musium peice...

Looks like these had single humbuckers... My NB-4 (posted above) has twinns...

Thanks for the responses and help. The "teiscotwangers" site had an exact picture of the EB-18 in the 1964 catalog (it sold for 18,000 Yen at the time). Per TDYooper, if the pickguard is plastic it is a 1964 model, if it is metal it is a 1965 model - and it does have an aluminum pickguard. Thanks again.

To me, mine sounds just right. I play it fretless, with plastic coated strings. I don't play for pay as it were. I get together with a few friends. We usually go rafting with three or four pontoon boats, at least one bigger cruiser like my Owens, and any number of smaller boats.

Barbeques, Babes and boats make for a good Saturday. The Gals like to watch the radar onboard 'Timber', but us guys??? Ya, you know what we like to watch...
