Can i fix this or is this a suitable replacement?

Hi all.

I bought this ibanez SDGR1500-P new in 91 or 92

There seem to be a few conflicting oics in the catalogues of which midel exactly it is as the catalogue says itnshould have an ibanez powercurve electronics, but it seems to clearly have the eq BII.

I was recently reunited with this bass. It sounds killer, but the tone voost doesnt do anything when turned. The volume works, pickup select knob works, bass boost works but yhe treble just doesnt seem to do anything.

Can i replace the treble boost knob fairly eaily? The wiring all looks to be in good shape.

I do see the EMG BTS system which looks like it would be perfect replacement. Is that for solderless only? Can i use the BTS system with these olde EMG passive pickups.

Cheers all.

It looks like a fairly generic open frame pot with PCB pins so I can't see it being difficult to source or replace. I'd resolder all the connections to make sure they're not the issue, and replace the electro just to be sure, for an extra 5 mins and $5.

Even if for some odd reason you can't find a new pot in the same form factor, you can make short flying leads and mount the pot separate from the PCB.

Thanks so much. Makes nothing but sense.

I assume the electro is the little black fella there?

Im not master solderer but i think i can do that much.

How can i tell what value the pot is?

This schematic claims to be for that EQ and it shows a 20K pot.

On the side of the pot in your second photo there is some printing, but I cannot make out what it says.

Also, this post has some more info
