What you want can certainly be done. I'm not sure you can get there for under a grand unless you do it yourself. If you order from Warmoth just the neck and unfinished body will cost you $565. Indian rosewood necks aren't cheap! An Audere preamp might be a good choice and those are around $150. That leaves you a little over $250 for pickups and hardware.
