Bob, big 10-4 on the neutralization bit! as we referred as killing the action. in my process of making the formula, 65% water is introduced to the aqua fortis befor the iron filings are added, and continue to be added until all activity ceases, and should never be used as a stain on soft tone wood. this is how the guys in ca 1750 used to "color" and protect their gun stocks. after the application of product and heat to the wood the action is further "killed" by a mixture of turpentine and linseed oil (both natural organic products) this process is certainly not for inexperienced hands or could ruin a good bass, or the guy trying to do it! dennis
