Is this in the US? If not, don't see why the FCC is relevant. As for the semantics around obscene versus offensive, i'll leave that for you to nitpick over. If you don't get the point I was making then you don't get it.

CRTC= a ruling body
bleeping one word = censorship by "Canada"?

There was just one reply that pointed out the hurtful nature of the word. That's enough for me to say bleep it out, and NO I'm not a commie. But anyway, the song is really a slam against laborers, not gays, isn't it?

we do it is "do not say or do anything that may offend any group except for middle aged white males",who as we all know are the true villians ..........we also have canook content regulations,that were designed to protect us from domination by u.s. tv/radio,but all it does is foster mediocrity....

At the risk of hijacking the thread, I have to say this amazes me. Of course if the "n-word" is used directed at a particular
person it is, without question, offensive and should not be used. If I called someone an idiot it is offensive. However if I use the word idiot in a discussion defining what an idiot is, is it offensive? Of course not. But no so with the "n-word". It cannot even be spoken or written in a discussion of the word itself. What if aliens came to earth and wished to discover what all the hubub was about this "n-word"? If someone dared uttered the word to the aliens so they would know what the "n-word" actually is, the PC police would be all over them. This is clearly taking Political correctness to the ridiculous. I feel no need to use the word on a daily basis, but in a discussion of the word it's plain stupid to have to call it the "n-word". It's like children having to tell their parents that their friend little Joey used the S-word or the f-word. I'm not a child, I can use words without having to speak code, and I can do it without offending.

So, in today's wonderfully tolerant and diverse world, no one may utter the "n-word" under any circumstances. Unless their name is Snoop Dog or Ice T or the latest wonderfully diverse and creative hip-hop "artist". Then they can sing it all night long and use it as a nickname for everyone.

Is there something wrong here?

It gets worse. You can't use words that sound close, either. A politician in New England got in a world of trouble for using the word "niggard" which is from old scandinavian and means "excessively miserly person", as if miserly isn't bad enough.
Apparently you aren't allowed to have a better vocabulary than your fellow politicians either. You need to be careful not to use words that sound similar to offensive words that someone could misunderstand.

I believe the word was "niggardly" and, yes, that story bewildered me when I read about it. There was also a case where a university professor was put through the ringer and, I believe, fired because he used the word "******" (there are those asterisks again) in a purely academic context during a course lecture. :rollno:

Canada has become a nation of boy scouts. It's a matter of time before everyone will be required to wear helmets to protect themselves from everything.

Political correctness has run so bad, that now might be the best time for anyone to emigrate there, regardless of criminal record. It's more important, in Canada to be polite than to stand up say B.S.

How embarrassing for this Canadian. :rollno:

What's so bad about using a word that represents obnoxious, inconsiderate Harley riders?

In all seriousness it's just another word to add to the edit filter. Not a big deal, other songs have gotten the same treatment.
