Canadian Rock

Lol, no, but I think that would be funny. My point is that although rock was not invented here (in Canada), Canadian rock is certainly "in-formed" by our culture and our heritage, just like German rock is, and Brit rock is, and Japanese rock is, etc. They all seem to have some pretty exciting stuff, and like us they certainly lack the same musical roots that American rock is blessed with.

IMO, Canadian rock is too Canadian, in that we don't appreciate what we have until it makes it big somewhere else. Eg. include Rush, Neil Young, Brian Adams, Leslie Neilson, Mike Myers, Pamela Anderson, Jim Carrey, Bob and Doug, Shannon Tweed, Keifer Sutherland, Portia White, Shania, Superman, Leonard Cohen, Keanu Reeves, etc. Then we're all "hey, did you Americans know that he/she/they're Canadian?" All those people (including Superman lol) had to leave here to make it big. Making it big here first is like the kiss of death.
i think that canuckistanians are far too concerned about(aboot) their home town heroes and too little about(aboot) searching out the good stuff.....wherever it is from......we've exported some major talent to be sure, but i wince whenever i hear some of the glorified novelty acts that have hit it big.....

Maybe in some cases... but I really like Blue Rodeo and the Tragically Hip. And David Wilcox. Bazil from Blue Rodeo is one of my favorite bass players, very tasteful note choices, and wicked tone, perfect for the music they play, and he really carries their songs (IMO).

Whoops, we forgot April Wine, Trooper, Lover Boy, Alanna Myles, Colin James, and Sass Jordan.
