I have one of those from the prohibition era. It was a great-great-great uncle's (or some kind of similar relative who I'm pretty sure was an in-law anyway). His name is engraved onto it - first name Adolph. We don't use that name in the family any more. Go figure.

It has about enough capacity for a shot and a half, and the side opens up to be a cigarette case as well. Pretty fancy, except that any cigarettes would have had to be extra small diameter to fit. I guess things were smaller in the 1920s and 1930s. People certainly were.

Your Russian Imperial stouts tend to be right up there around 12%

I’ve got a bottle of Darkness Russian Imperial Stout from Surly Brewing that I’m saving for a special occasion, but I don’t see the ABV listed on the label.

Edit: I checked the web and it’s 12%.

Tried it, not to bad for that brand. If you ever visit the twin cities area the Surely brewery/restraunt is a must do, the owner was also responsible for getting the brew pub law passed here in Mn. its called the Surely bill for that reason

Cigarettes also didn't necessarily have standardized sizes. I think they generally lacked filters as well.

It hasn't had cigarettes for decades. Probably more than 80 years. The cousin I got it from died ten years ago at the age of 96 and never smoked. He probably had it since the mid to late 1930s. It may never have had cigarettes in it for all I know, so it wouldn't have mattered what fit in there. Cash would have, so there's that.

It is. Beats me what I'll ever do with it. It doesn't hold enough of anything to be especially useful. It's sticking around though, just because it is a cool little flask.

I could do that. But, it will probably just sit on a shelf and be a cool flask. I might wash it out and put booze in it someday, just because that's what it was for. Or not. I dunno.

Just last weekend a guy got so drunk he opened up his roommate's "kit box" and full on urinated in the thing. Don't ask me what happened afterward when his roommate found out, but I'd be pretty deliberate about thinking up a revenge plot.
