Can't feel home at Talkbass.

I feel about as at home here as i do @ school [c/o 4-6 different bands per semester] & work [am the 3rd one in my family to work @ Spencers].

I think i registered in either 2000 or 2001 but before then i wouldn't think about what bass to get next, what amp would be best against whatever guitar amp, would an upright be beneificial to my playing now that college is 2-3 years away even [i'm a sophmore right now & double on upright but use a school one], when i will have enough money for a new bass, heck even now w/the StingRay5 on order i'm looking @ new gear still not exactly sure what i want but from what i've read down in the DB section an Engelhardt DB is a good one for a beginner/intermediate before i came here i had a life outside of bass ;) :D . Also, you guys have had answers for nearly every question except for what do i really want since i'm the only one who can answer that. So yeah, i feel comfortable/at home here if it was a club or a bar i'd hope that it allowed minors since i'm 16 :) .
With all that being said, shameless promo for this weekend, i will be performing in the Lafayette Jefferson Jazz Band this Saturday @ 8:00 or 8:30 @ Fowler Hall on Purdue University this weekend in part of the Purdue Jazz Fest High School Big Band thing we're performing: Road Time Shuffle, Cruisin for a Bluesin, Us, and i think that's it. Also if you see a big blue chevy impala with a upright in the back that's me. Thats all

I totally dig TB and feel right at home, I have met allot of cool people over the three years I have been here. I have even met a handfull of you in person.
I'm in hear everyday and at least find one thread a day that's interesting enough to post in.
I also belong to basslinks.nl and it's a great up and coming forum but spend more time here, I fly right through the Dudepit, I never felt welcome or comfortable over there, I also visit the FDP but feel the same, never really welcome and very uncofortable.
So I rekon Talkbass is where it's at!!

I really like Talkbass. It is the only forum that I participate in regularly.

I think the reasons are:
1) The regulars are mature and experienced, they have a lot of expertise. The regulars are mostly very open minded.

2) Lots of traffic, so a lot of threads.

3) Well organized website, and the mods do a very good job.

4) Lots of pros/semi pros, players and builders.

I like Talkbass. I think this is now my fourth year of posting...OK, I take long breaks, and then come back for a stint. No one seems to notice me go or return.

I've learned a lot of stuff here as well, but I know exactly what Jazz Ad means. I have never felt at home here.

It's strange. I don't watch my cyber-tongue here, as I do on the Fender forum. But I have made none of the warm friendships I have on a couple of other forums.

It's a strange forum, but one that I am glad I belong to.

Talkbass isn't as fast paced as it used to be, it can be a little boring to see the same threads on the front page of any given forum for days at a time. I usually only read it on the weekend, that way everything has had a week to advance and all the stories and questions are fresh, and those that are long lasting have developed over the course of the week.

Edit: Oops, I forgot I'd been looking at the back page of the forum several hours ago...

Totally normal.
People get tired and sometimes even bored viewing free porn on the internet now and then.

...seriously, viewing talkbass for me runs in cycles. Sometimes there's a plethora of interesting posts and awesome bass and cab pix. Other times it seems to merely tread water til the next flurry of interesting posts.

All I can say is that it wouldn't feel like a community to me without you, JazzAd. You're avatar is probably the first one I always recognize and I have always enjoyed your posts, dating back to before I was even a member and was just lurking (probably 10 years ago?).

I have also noticed TB seems to be in a state of flux, if that's what you're getting at. The feel is still the same, but some faces have changed. Even in my relatively short time here I have noticed every couple years there's an influx of new members. Some of those members have questions we're all probably very tired of answering and the topics are horses long in their graves, but it's those noobs that are going to keep this place thriving in the future. I know I paid attention to your posts back when I was a totally different player and person, so that had to count for something!
