but: if musicians are playing = the tune will succeed in some way!

per the OP: i have learned to love/hate all tunes pretty much equally. it's all in a day's work. if you can't make a bogus tune good, then how would you keep from making a good tune bogus?

I've only played with a few drummers who actually played that thing right... The rest just played a sears & roebuck version of it, and it's grueling at best. It's actually very cool to play when the drummer does it right.

I don't know if it's because they hate having to play it that causes this, but the only ones I heard griping about playing wipeout were those who couldn't really do it.

We've recently added Wipeout to our set at our drummer's request.

It's one song that he plays right. Most songs he thinks he remembers how the drums go, some he does, others not so much!

Yep, that’s pretty much how we did it, unrehearsed (easy ‘nuff), minus the lead shredding. But a baritone voice like mine can’t pull it off.

Having a cajon instead of drums I can honestly say no one has ever asked for that song.

I played in a surf band where Wipeout was a requirement every night, and even the other bands I've played in often play it. Really fun tune, the audience loves it, what's not to like??
