I am happy with my current basses, and never have been too fond of the cheapies, but this one looks really nice.

Yeah, I think $200 is too much, considering a Douglas 5-string with set-neck is $179. I was thinking of making an offer in the $120 range. Guy might think it lowball, but I don't think so.
I'm thinking of a bass I can keep at work hanging behind my desk.

Steer clear of this bass. I had the 5 string version that I payed around $300 for back in 98. It is made by Samic for Musicians Friend. The body is super thin, it has a very cheap plastic nut (mine broke), horrible electronics that looked like a 5 year old assembled, and a cheese grater fret job. Honestly the only good thing I have to say about the bass is that GC gave me $100 trade in for it. Why did I buy it? It looked nice and was cheap. I only kept it for a couple of months. Save your money if you are at all serious about playing bass.

I'm looking for something I can leave on the wall at work and not worry if it gets stolen or banged around, but it has to feel decent anyhow.
Thanks for the hands-on info. That's what I was hoping for.

It would be ok for a wall hanger. My bandmate has the 5 string. Looks great, plays not so good (I personally don't like 5ers) because the action on his is too low, fret buzz on b string makes it virtually unplayable. would like to see his get a pro setup since he won't sell it. The deal breaker for me is it weighs a ton, an absolute neck-breaker. He always asks "why won't you play my bass?" Lol! I haven't weighed it,but it easily outweighs my heaviest..Epi bird IV....it is pretty, though :-)

I don't usually like to make negative comments about anything but I just had to warn you. Have you considered a Squier Jazz or Precision?

Thanks, that's not negative.
I own a Geddy, a Jag, and a PB-551 already, and I like them.
As for inexpensive basses, I had an SX and a Squier P. Both were sub-par for me.
I've also owned a Squier VM P that was outstanding.
I guess it was just the look of this one. Neck-through, and "looks" solid. But there is not enough hands-on data available to form a good opinion.
