my mom's 2000 VW bug has 2 terrible (broken- distorting and sounding like a solid-state guitar amp cranked up to "11" and being played with extra loud distortion) speakers (door mounted), and i'm guessing it's because of their quality. they've been broken for about half a year now and we've never put the volume even close to how loud any other car i've ever been in. the other cars i'm referring to have had the bass boosted at high volumes with the stock speakers being used. my main question is:
do i have to find speakers with a certain impedance/other quality?
my first thought to which type of speakers i should use was small bass amp speakers, but i figured that was a stupid idea since i probably wouldn't find small enough sizes- and the fact that i probably wouldn't get the same response as normal car speakers. do any of you other TBers have any idea of where to get replacement speakers? also, are there different types of speakers? ie. paper, aluminum, ashdown blue-line construction type, etc?
reccomendations are more than welcome.
cheers.
