Car sub-woofers

Hey, maybe you could use one of those shoebox sized 4000 watt car amps they sell too.
Everytime I hear one of those car stereos going "WHOOOOOOM WHOOOOOOM WHOOOOOOOM" I think to myself "If my bass amp sounded like that I'd throw it away."
Lotsa volume, ridiculously boosted low frequencies, absolutely no definition or balance of any kind.

I actually have one of those Bazooka tubes...it's a smaller, outdated, self-powered 6 1/2" model, but I love how it sounds for my music. Hits hard for rock/metal, but isn't overbearing for jazz and the like.
That being said, it sounds great in my CAR.

what the other guys said is true most care subs are designed to be very "boomy" in a fairly small frequency area, but i have honestly used an Infinity sub in a bandpass box for a decent size sound system setup and it sounded alright with my bass.
what im getting at is if you find the right sub and build the box to your frequency specs that you want it would prob sound alright...but thats too much work, just get a speaker designed for your instrument
