Car Subwoofer as a Cabinet?

Car subs work well in cars because the car itself becomes the "cabinet" for it.

Unless you plan on playing in the car (or parking your car onstage) you aren't going to hear much of anything in a band setting...even if you added a midrange driver to it.

Home and car audio are completely different from live music sound reinforcement. What seems quite loud in a car or a living room (like some kick-ass home theater systems) is nowhere near enough to compete volume-wise with a live band.

To sum up my answer to your question...NO!

Would it work? As long as there are no ohm matching issues with the speaker. As to how it would sound, maybe not the best, but as a technical exercise it would produce sound.

I have personal experience on the subject. I once purchased a rackmount Behringer headphone splitter/amplifier - supposedly their best product, according to online reviews and the folks in the shop. Within two days of normal use, it developed a hum and crackle on on all channels so bad that it was rendered useless. I exchanged it for a new one - same deal.

I'm done.

...and then a friend, against my reccomendations, bought one of their micro mixers - the Euro-something, if my memory serves me well. POS quite literally came to pieces within a week of normal use.
