Thanks again Bruce, I hope this thread is useful for someone like some many have been for me, I'll updated the thread in a couple of weeks once I get the epoxy.

As far as the slot I've seen a couple DIY apparatuses that can work as a router base for a dremel, my father has done plenty of DIY things like that with good results, I'll see if can make me one. If not I'll practice my chiseling in the mean time.

I've got a lot of time with epoxy/carbon etc in amateur boat building. You really don't need to worry too much about viscosity for this job. Any epoxy formulation for use in a wet layup that doesn't contain filler is going to do the job. If you're really badly worried about wetting out you can wet out the carbon off the guitar on a flat board, that does get a bit messy though.

BTW the number one tip for basic epoxy work is parcel tape, the brown mylar packing tape. Epoxy doesn't stick to it, so you can use it for masking off, for moulds and jigs, any thing where epoxy might get where you don't want it. Don't be without it.

Yep. I use the standard clear Mylar packing tape. Epoxy doesn't stick to it. It's great for masking off areas from squeeze-out.
