Carllo Robelli basses?

Does anyone owns any electric Carllo Robelli Bass,,,,and do u gig with it? very affordable basses.

I've owned a 4 and 5 string. Nice looking but had cheap tuners and decent sounding but weak pickups. I still have a 4 string acoustic that I keep for using around the house. I wouldn't buy another one though.

I would not take one even if it was free! I was at a Sam Ash some time ago and they had a new Carlo Robelli 5-string bass just sitting there on a guitar stand. Nice looking bass.

As I was talking to one of the sales clerks, all of a sudden was this loud bang!! Scared the crap out of me and the sales clerk. What happened, the headstock completely snapped off the neck of the bass! Pretty much right on the glue line were the headstock is glued to the neck. The friggin bass was just sitting there, no one was playing it. Enough said?

They use to make an 8 string (4 string doubled). It was in the shape of a Les Paul Double cutaway, had a Music man pickup & active electronics, & was finished in silver bass-boat glitter.

It totally Rocks! I know because I have one (paid $100 for it!).

It's cheap & cheesy, but it plays great & really sound good.

Hard to believe, Huh?

Sam Ash house brand. Nothing special, but not junk, IMO. That neck that 'snapped' must have been damaged. I've not owned a bass, but 5 years ago my wife needed a new electric fiddle. Off to Sam Ash we went. I handed her 6 different fiddles as she played them in the sound room. I didn't tell which cost what. After playing all 6, ranging from $100 to $1700, she said 'This one plays and sounds the best'. It was the Robelli. Best $100 I ever spent. Happy wife, happy wallet, and she is playing it to this day, no problems.

I had a 12 string model for a while. It had the very same bat wing inlays on the neck as Galveston basses. It sounded pretty good. It played well. I expected an intonation nightmare with that many strings, but it was no problem. Wish I had it back.
