we recently had to get a bigger car because my bass doesnt fit too well in my our Infiniti G-35 or our Miata so we bought a volvo xc-90 and it can easily haul my bass, my sisters cello and 4 other people with no problum what so ever.

Double Bass Cars for bass (DB forum thread)

After years of struggling to put basses onto small cars, I decided that my main criteria would be that the bass must fit entirely behind the front seats. I got tired of my elbow being bothered by a bass neck sticking between the front seats. I've had Ford Windstars, Ford Explorers, and finally decided to downsize. Right now it seems that small wagons are few and far between(no Toyotas, Hondas, etc.). I think I found the perfect car--a VW Passat Wagon. There's room for the bass, two Bergies, amps, a stool, a fold-up dolly, and lots of other stuff, and still have room for a passenger. I drove myself and our guitarist, with all our equipment, to Illinois for a jazz concert, and it was a very comfortable trip. I averaged about 31 mpg.

Years ago I had a '72 Volkswagon Camper Van.
Gas milage, safety & reliability were all a joke, but I loved it!
Best part was, with the roof popped up, I could use the sink as a stool and PRACTICE in the van!

I have a Buick Century, and the bass fits easy if I fold the front seat down. The body goes in the front seat with the scroll resting on the back seat headrest. Under the neck I have space to fit a backpack with all my cords and what not. The trunk can fit my Eden combo, one or two slabs, and probably more If I tried. Room for one passenger. I did fit two once, but it was kinda squishy. If I raised the front seat a tiny bit I could probably fit the second person more comfortably. No visibility problems either!
You can definitely fit two acoustic basses into a Prius. Here's a photo of my Prius with the following:

Subaru forester, fold down one half of the backseat - fits bass, amps etc, driver and two passengers, not too bad on gas mileage
As a simple and easy chance to bitch and whine, I gotta say that if I see one more TBDB thread on what car is best to haul around a DB in, i'm gonna puke. Especially ones like this under the "Basses" forum header.

I put a bass in a Prius one time. It has to lie on its back, and that's a no-no to me. If you want to be green, try an Escalade Hybrid.
2012 Hyundai Accent- bass in the front seat with the driver side back seat down, gear in the trunk. It fits nicely for such a small car.
I put my bass in my 2006 Prius. Its a big Martin bass and fits fine. Sometimes people are surprised when they see me loading it. So if you want lots of gas mileage for hauling your bass, the Prius is a great option.
Mine fits in my '56 just fine...as long as no one else wants a ride.

Just bought a Honda Element! It is perfect for gear hauling! Upright Bass slides in perfectly with one seat up and there is room for amps and two passengers. You can take back seats completely out or hang them to the side wall for even more space. Genius construction for a musician!
