Double Bass Cars for bass (DB forum thread)

Yeah, ya got me. I bought it purely on the retro cool factor but it really has turned into one of those "small on the outside, big on the inside" cars.
Saab 9-5 Wagon - I can get my bass, slab, amp (EA VL110/AI Clarus), stands AND four passengers with room to spare. I used to get my upright and amp and stands, a passenger, and the band's entire PA in a Subaru Outback - I haven't tried that yet w/the Saab

The CT cruisers drive a PT cruiser. It is great for my DB as well as 8 foot pieces of lumber that fit inside and allowing me to close the hatch. I can fit two other passengers and have room for my amp and a big cooler to hold my favorite bass juice.
Honda Element! Works really, really well. I don't even have to resort to contortions to fit the bass in. Just recline the passenger seat and set the bass down, then buckle it in. Because of the double-opening doors (and lack of central pillar), it's a very easy process.

I enjoy driving my car as much as I enjoy playing my American plywood basses...a BMW 525 wagon will swallow a bass, a banjo, a guitar, luggage, two lawn chairs and one big cooler for all your hydration needs

I drove one of these for several years when I was younger. I never had a problem putting my double bass in the back. I put the back seat down and the scroll went between the front seats (I used it as an arm rest).
I later got a Civic hatchback and that worked too.

I remember (somehow!) fitting DB, EB, stool, amp, 2 bags, baritone & soprano saxes in hard cases and the sax plaxer - all into a Citroen AX
i now drive a Xantia hatchback with a split folding rear seat and can manage DB, amp, bag and 2 passengers. I did manage, in an emergency, to take my rig plus drummer & kit - but had kittens all the way there and back. I like to keep my bass safe'n'snug!

A CT Cruiser is a bass guy who lives in Connecticut and who cruises with his pet in a PT Cruiser or whatever other conveyance is suitable.
Scion xB is my daily. Yeah, I know, its not the best looking thing in the world. But I can fit my, DB, electric bass, 2 Epi UL-110's, my amp rack, stool, DB stand, cart to carry my amps with, and any other accessories in it with space to spare. All while I'm getting about 34mpg. This car has been one of the best investments I've ever purchased.

I think the Scion Xb is pretty sweet actually, its like the futuristic model of my car. I wanted to get one excpet I had a 5000 dollars spending limit for cars luckily I got a PT for that.
Sure does. I put the front passenger seat all the way down and back. Then, I swing the bass in with the scroll resting on the folded headrest of the rear passenger seat. Finally, I raise the front passenger seat until its headrest gently pushes up and supports the neck-block area. The S80 is, after all, a big sedan.
