Carvin amp problems

Ive gigged my DCM2000L for 3 years and all the while thought that their power amps did not have that idiotic ribbon cable bullsh*t design. If mine does in fact have that stupid design feature I'll figure out what to do with the hulk if intermittent operation plagues me. What a damn disappointment to learn that I chose an power amp with such a lame design feature - my fault. However, this power amp has great features, sounds very clean and is serving me well so far. And I really like the fact that it's a USA made product. I live 10 miles from the factory and I'll give them ... heck if my amp falls to such a dumb symptom. They may just shrug me off. :rollno:

I would think that all of the "DMCxxxxL" series amps have the same design, so yeah, I'd say yours has the ribbon cables (2). I also live near the factory, but I don't think they'd give a rats ass if you walk in to complain.

My BX500 started farting out apparently from the vibration of my cab or from normal travel/setup. If I would tap it (with my fist lol) everything would come back. I thought it was a goner until I read this thread. I pulled all of ribbon cables (even the tough one behind the equalizer area) and sprayed the connectors on the cables with Control/Contact Cleaner and Lubricant I had bought at Radio Shack for cleaning control pots and boom - like brand new! I've cranked it, banged on it and not even a crackle. Thanks for the knowledge sharing!

My backup BX1500 just developed a bad hissing sound. Ribbon connector?

You’d be better off making a new thread rather than piggy backing onto this Zombie. A lot of folk see the date of the OP and pass on by. :)

If you have technical skills you can try cleaning the connectors with a drop of DeOxit. If it helps great. :D
