Carvin Brx10.4 Neo? Good Choice?

Well, I sold my Guitar Amp and worked tons of OT at work for some freakin money. Now I want a new cab. I run a BX1200 already so I figured why not get a BRX10.4 since it can handle all 1200 watts, and I haven't heard anything bad about it. I play a 5 string and people seem to be pretty pumped about how low this thing can get.

Well, any objections or suggestions? Thanks.

Yeah, but it's just several lbs. lighter(76lbs. vs. 98lbs.) than my Eden 410XLT, and has a lower frequency response(28Hz vs. 50Hz), and has more power handling(1200watts vs. 700watts), and it's about half the price($500 vs. $1000). I'm sure customer service is better too. That's just a single comparison though. Also too, if you like low, and play a 5, it's the only popular cab manufacterer that goes that low, unless you look at Basson. But, I'd like to save my back/spine.

If you have an amp that will deliver big power @ 2 ohms - or a dual channel amp that will deliver good power to each channel @ 4 ohms - then (2) BRX Neo 10.2 cabs, vertically stacked, would be the ideal way to go... :hmm:

If your BX1200 head can go to 2ohms, you could do that. Or for the price of those typical "name-brand" cabs, you could buy a 10.4 cab w/B2000 or B1500 head. Then you could sell your other head for a 10.2 cab, and have a 6x10 configuration(especially for bigger gigs) @2ohms w/1500 to 2050watt rig for less money. Also, for smaller gigs, you could just take your head, and the 10.2 cab. Just a thought, but not the do-all-end-all. It's your hard earned money, and deserve to spend it on what you like/want.

I've been reading through the BX500 thread(s)... You think it'd be a good choice to switch up the BX1200 for the BX500? Weight really makes no difference to me. But if it's better than the BX1200, it might be worth switching up since the pricetag isn't really that brutal. Would it work well for rock/metal? Thanks.

I use a BX1500 and the BRX410NEO and I'm in a metal band tuned to Drop C. Work like a dream. My buddy used my rig Saturday night and they tune to A and it still sounded amazing and didn't fart out. He normally plays a Hartke Kilo with their HX810 NEO. He is now pondering selling his gear to buy the B2000 with 2 of the BRX410NEO. So that should answer your METAL question. BTW, we practice in a 50'X60' non A/Ced warehouse in S. Fl. The heat index was 109*F and I've had no overheating issues.

I was the first on this board to get the BX500 and primarily bought it because of it's light weight compared to the BX1200, it's worked out great for me. As far as your metal question goes, I see why not it should work just fine for the genre of music.

The BX1500 pumps out 1500w doesn't it? Are you running 8ohms through it then I take it?

Is the sound of the BX500 good enough to actually switch up the BX1200 with the BX500? How is the DI on it?

No, the BRX is only 4 ohms but I'm running the amp bridged for full wattage for gigs and running the one side during regular practice. The DI can be either pre or post and has it's own level control.

I think you were either talkin to someone else or misreading my post. I said BX500, haha.

But if you run the BX1500 bridged, wouldn't that push 1500w? And the cab can only handle 1200w.
