Mine was just delivered, so I will report back when I get home later and try it out!
Yes please do! Right now I'm planning to order one to test drive on my next 2-night gig (Oct. 16 & 17), so I want to hear people's impressions right up through then and I will provide some of my own after that.

Cool -
Vinx - What is your impression of the tube pre-amp? It seems opinions are split. Some really don't think it's more than window dressing, others say it does make a difference when engaged. Others think it has some value but say the factory issue tube is lame and advise swapping to a different tube right away. You?
If the tube does something, someone needs to tell me what it does because I can't tell the difference with it engaged or not engaged. I know this and that is that the amp is very loud and I prefer the sound of it over the BX1200 which I also own and played thru for 2 yrs. It seems to have more grit to it than the BX1200 and that's something that I do like.
To me, comparing something like a BX500 to an M9 (or any other Mesa head for that matter) is like comparing vanilla ice cream to something like rocky road. It's never going to be able to compete in terms of flavor on it's own, but it makes a great base for addiing other ingredients to taylor it to your taste.
Well here I am again. I was one of the guys that had one of these when they first came out. I sent the first TWO back for problems ( and had a major rant here) then got the 3rd and have been RELATIVLY happy with it. ( OK it's not even close to the sweetness of my Glockenklang) but as everyone knows a lot lighter and a little more powerful. I had been using it for about 4 months now with no problems. BUT last nite it did shut down in the middle of a tune, man that pi$$es me off. I wasn't sure if it was the bass or amp at first but the amp was definitely in thermal shutdown mode. I turned the amp off and changed basses anyway. I turned the amp back on and finished the gig without any more problems. But I gotta say second guessing whether or not an amp will get through the nite is really a pain in the a$$. I have never in 45 yrs of gigging have ever had to bring a back up amp and now this has me wondering, again. The place we played was not a dive so to speak but I did note that they had one of those long strip plug in bars across the stage that I think was new from the last time I played there so maybe that was it. This made think of an old friend that used to always bring a 100 ft. extension cord so he could always plug into a different part of the bldg. I really hate the uncertainty of all this and don't want to be going to every gig wondering WHAT THE F&^% IS GOING TO HAPPEN "TONITE"
your's truly..........stressing over this amp AGAIN !!!
