Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 4!

The SB5001 just arrived! I'm in the process of setting it up. Of course I did check for noise immediately and ........ not even a hint of noise through my GB Shuttle Max 9.2 and Berg HT112.
I really cranked it up and tried both P/U's up full, neck soloed & bridge soloed. Tired it passive too. Absolutely no noise.
I guess it was all induced by Neon Scribes house wiring and nearby ham radio.

So strange!

Killer looking bass! Great workmanship! Fit and finish excellent!

I'll post an update after the setup is complete and I have some time to play it.

It probably was just my house causing trouble, but there is also the possibility that they fixed a problem after it was returned. Also, it isn't ham radio here but a 100,000 watt FM broadcast transmitter.

Enjoy the bass and let us know how you like it. As I said, aside from the noise I thought it was fantastic.

Man you guys are impatient! :)

Thanks Neon! It's definitely a keeper. It setup with extremely low action (.067 G @ the 22nd fret to .078 B @ the 22th fret). No buzz. Very nice!

Has anyone else noticed that the SB5000 has significantly lower output when compared to most basses? For example my office practice rig is a Mesa Walkabout driving an Aggie GS112, to keep the apparent volume at a consistent level I'll plug any of the basses listed in my signature into the active input vs plugging the Carvin into the passive... even then most are still hotter than the SB - thoughts?

My experience has been just the opposite. My SB5000 is one of the hottest output basses I have heard. My may want to adjust your trim pot.

Have you checked to see where the preamp trim pot is set? Maybe a twist of the screwdriver will solve your problem
