Here's mine. Right now it has a tort guard and a GK3B pickup on it. I think I like the pearl guard better though...

Very cool bass for when I need to get loud. I don't use a 5-string unless I am playing at high enough volume to move air with it.

A wha what pickup?

Let me know if you ever sell that Platinum Gold Metallic SB5000.

I have a Gold SB5000 in Alder / Flame Maple and a SB4000 in Ash / Maple. Three of a kind in Platinum Gold Metallic would be epic.

Looks like yours is ebony fingerboard so I would definitely be interested. What is the body and fingerboard wood?

Thanks guys!

Yeah. I just couldn't resist going for it!
No noise problems at all here in Georgia! I'm very happy with it. I may yet change out the H50's for J99's but I want a little time with to make sure. I really like the midrange tone of the H50's.

Man, I was at the factory store last week hoping to sit down with that one... you robbed me! :smug:

Dang. I ordered on 3/3 and my postcard says 4/26. Guess I better hunker down. Let us know what they say.

It'll be worth the wait Dave! Compared to the 6 months plus that I've waited on a couple of custom builds, 8-10 weeks is wonderful!

Have fun time with the crazy Roscoeheads tonight. Be strong and don't let them lead you into temptation! :D

I'm still lovin the look of that bass Wilby. What is the official Carvin color for that?

Thanks man. I think it's platinum gold metallic, but I don't see it in the builder anymore...it looks gold in other pics.

The GK3B, if set up properly, tracks perfectly. You have to program the V-Bass unit a bit to even out the string response. The SB5000 is very even sounding and I don't remember having any trouble with it (might not have needed much tweaking). I used it the whole setup every weekend for a year in the jam band I was moonlighting with, but now that I am back to all jazz gigs the whole rig hasn't seen much action for a while. Th SB5000 was a great platform for the V-Bass.

I think the SB's are fantastic basses generally!

Nah, I play BASS. ;) :D
Hehe, you know that's most of the resason I haven't done it. I know that if I had the high C, I would start playing more chords and higher lines that would likely step on the toes of other players in that range. As much as I would like to open my playing into that area, I don't want to let it drag me away from my core function.

So I'm thinking about jumping on this CarvinSB bandwagon, probably gonna be my first fiver too!

I know it's cliche and such but... Is there a certain pickup configuration or certain type of wood I should choose If I want to cop the Chris Squire/Geddy Lee type tone?
