Question to other owners that have active Vaders...

Does your passive tone control have any effect when in active mode? Tonight at practice I noticed it had a big effect, I could have sworn it didn’t do that before.

Yes, Kiesel's tone knob functions with the active pre-amp engaged. Some other brands do it, too. Such as the Japanese Fender Jaguar bass and presumably, the American ones.

I’ve been considering getting myself one of the 30” scales aswell, but my concern is with the reach of the lower frets aswell.

I currently play a shortscale with the upper horn located at the 12 or almost 11th fret and with the Vader’s upper horn reaching only the 14th/15th fret I feel like that would be quite a jump for me for lower fret access. Almost 2” further out by the looks of it.

Would this give the 30” scale a feel that’s closer to a 32” scaler even a 34”? That would make the point of ordering a shortscale moot for me.

Can anyone who has a 30” shortscale Vader comment on this?

I’ve never run across that before - thank you! I was worried something fried in mine.

This ended up driving me crazy, so I replaced the original tone stack with an EMG using the original pickup. Much better.

I have 2 30" Vaders. The upper horn length had the opposite effect for me. I had an easier time reaching the upper frets which I liked better. A lot depends on your set up, how high do you wear your bass? If you wear it high, you'll notice it more, and if you're short, you may notice it more.
Like I said I have 2, if you're looking to get into one at a reduced price point let me know, we could discuss a deal.

If your height is like 5'5" or under, I could see it maybe being a small issue. But for me, at 5'9" with girly hands----I have never met a shortscale where the reach was difficult. And I have a DANO 63 shortscale 30".

2 inches shorter and less space between frets, basically removes reach problem.

Unfortunately i am short and also wear my strap really high because i like to do tapping stuff so I suppose this bass will be a miss for me, I dont want to spend the money on a bass I wont be able to play comfortably. Ah well thanks for the replies guys.
