Carvin vs. Markbass

The B1500 is IMO an absolutely terrific amp. I don't own a MarkBass but have tried them out numerous times. I've heard nothing that would make me want to ditch my B1500. OTOH, if I had gotten a MarkBass first rather than a B1500, I'm reasonably convinced I would have been pretty happy and might not have seen the need to change. They're very good amps; at least the LMII and the F1 I tried were.

Why not just downsize the Carvin rig? I've got the BX600/BR410 and both are excellent. That head has more features and versatility than most bassists would ever use, and the cab is excellent at reproducing what is fed to it...not to mention it's one of the loudest 410's you can buy. I can only imagine that the BRX would be the same.

I use the Carvin BX1200 plus 4x10 cab for most all my gigs and it's got so much power that I don't even need anything else. Though, I do have the 1x18 cab that goes with it and will use it when I'm doing outdoor gigs, but still the Carvin has got alot of useful features. I've not had any problems with it since I purchased it back in Jan 07'.:)

+1 on the Carvin. I rocked my BR610neo combo last night and the whole cul-de-sac said it was loud & clear. Not bad for a smallish combo. LowDownDad.:bassist:

Some do, some don't.

My two favorite heads, regardless of price are the Carvin B1500 for the huge low end, massive volume lead sled type thing... clean, crisp, transparent, high quality, low price. Wonderful!

And... for small, moderate wattage applications, the MB LMII or F1... clean, crisp, transparent, high quality, low price, and very small footprint and lightweight.

In my A/Bing of the Carvin B1500 with other MUCH higher priced lead sled type amps (Aguilar DB750 and Glockenklang HR), the B1500 more than held its own IMO and IME.

In my A/Bing of the LMII and F1 with the other SMPS amps, including my Walter Woods Ultra, they too MORE than held their own.

Both 'best in class' IMO and IME if you are looking for 'clean, relatively transparent, but also musical and 'warm'.

If you don't mind the weight, are play VERY loud, and need 2ohm safe operation, it would be the B1500 for me. For everything else, the LMII/F1 would get the call!

Edit: I'm not a huge fan of either companies' cabs.
