Case to hold disassembled bass??

You can buy an adjustable plastic drafting tube, black, off of Amazon, Staples, Office Depot, etc...
Adjust the tube to the length you want. Normally, I wouldn't do anything else to the tube. But since you're putting a neck in there instead of "e" size drafting vellum, duct tape the center where the two tubes interlock. Once you've removed the tuners and wrapped the neck up in bubble wrap, etc... Fill the in the top of the tube and cap with packing material, then put the cap on, lock it in place ,and tape it up too. Don't forget to put packing material in the bottom of the tube before putting the neck inside.
@buldog5151bass mentioned pvc earlier too, same idea. I actually like the PVC better because you could buy some really thick walled stuff that would hold up better to being thrown around like luggage can be from time to time.

yep, especially the the thicker walled stuff, and you're not going to come out any cheaper doing anything else. Plus you can cut it to the exact size you want too.
Have you booked your ticket already. Not all international airlines charge for oversize luggage.

Would you really trust a bass neck getting loaded into the belly of a transatlantic flight? He arrive overseas with firewood.

No - but I would trust it in an overhead compartment. I thought he might be able to carry it on.
Personally I would ship the bass in 2 pieces to the destination via Fedex Ground, USPS or similar service.
Get yourself a (single) golf club box from Fedex. I stored a neck in one of these for some time. And eventually used the box to ship a neck to someone.
I'm actually sitting in a plane right now. Bass is disassembled in a large hiking backpack. Neck wrapped in bubble wrap and padded by clothing. I will let you know how it went. Before the backpack option I was thinking of just bubble wrapping it and putting it in a cardboard box. If it's good enough for shipping it should work for flying.
If it were me, whatever I used, I'd make it repackable at the TSA checkpoint. Because you know they're gonna make you take it out.
Also, be sure to check out the CITES regs on whether or not you can ship rosewood across country borders. I think it's resolved and that you can, but just saying... check what you have to say, etc, when they ask about it. There's a thread on TB about it.
But if it were really me, I'd just pay the $200, because I'm gonna need a case over there anyway. Or, I'd leave it home and buy something else over there.

This is the way i get one piece rod blanks. PVC pipe with a wood plug taped in each end and all the extra space stuffed with newspaper. Get the smallest possible size you can get your neck in and then bubble wrap and stuff it in the tube with packing of some sort to fill it up.
Mail it to your new destination.
If you must carry it on the plane, get a steinberger gig bag or just wrap it in a cardboard box.

Thanks. It's just a MIM Road Worn that I got used on CL. Its an especially nice playing one and I've really bonded with it. And its a 2009 (before they switched to Pao Ferro)
