We all knew this was eventually going to happen. Now to prepare for the aftermath.......

Convert our property to be more selfsustaining. Invest in solar & wind energy.
Grow our own produce, recycle grey water for non-consumable purposes.
Do your part to reduce consumption if youre worried about it.

Plow up graveyards. There's a lot of phosphorous being needlessly wasted by being sealed up in air-tight vaults underground.

What part of this is surprising? Anyone who has paid attention has known this is the case for 20+ years.
The challenge is to change consumption and environment-altering actions in time to renew the balance. The challenge before THAT is to stop denying that we're not hurting a thing, and to stop claiming that we can consume everything indefinitely without running out of resources.
I don't have great answers, but at least I admit that the problem exists.
There are many people who would cheerfully doom the entire human race if they could get another 30 years of living in luxury while they do it.

And that's the issue. No one wants to be the first generation to step up and say, "Alright, we'll take the hit and start living a more simple life."

Well, I could include corn oil really. Consider the petroleum inputs (tractors, trucks, etc.) and finite mineral-based (Potassium) and natural gas (Haber-Bosch process) fertilizers used to grow, harvest, and process the corn and you get the picture.
