Well, I could include corn oil really. Consider the petroleum inputs (tractors, trucks, etc.) and finite mineral-based (Potassium) and natural gas (Haber-Bosch process) fertilizers used to grow, harvest, and process the corn and you get the picture.

Did you know that diesel engines can be run on used filtered vegetable oil?

Certainly not all of them. To be honest, I could just be a part of that same percentage who chooses to do so that has always existed.

No surprise. Here in CO, Kentucky bluegrass is not indigenous but there sure is a lot of it. People dump endless quantities of water into their lawns just so it looks nice. I think its freaking insane but people think i am the insane one when i complain about how much water is wasted and how foolish and shortsighted it is. Even during draughts lawn watering is only restricted and many dont care.

Its human nature to take what is wanted and more without much consideration beyond ones self. It will never change.

Those people could establish grey water reservoirs and water their lawns with non-potable water, thus reserving fresh water for drinking and other necessities.

I can honestly say that doing so is a main goal in my life, but it can be hard because to a large extent actually doing so seems to carry a stigma of "aiming below your potential," or something to that effect. I would rather have little and rely more on myself than rely on external pay in a life-paralyzing job to make my living.
