CD Player through amp

thanks man. I have been listening to pantera, opeth, and megadeth a lot lately through my cheap computer speakers, and when i plugged in my dc player to my amp everything sounded so much more beautiful and clearer, but i wanted to make sure it wouldnt hurt the speaker.

To possibly expand discussion, what is impact of home stereo CD player/changer through any bass amp? I've tried two Insignia 5-disc CD changers that normally require home stereo receiver module. Owners manuals never said anything about restrictions on the "output" device (when CD changer/player is plugged directly into bass amp with two RCA plugs - white/red). REsult for me? Near blew my head off, becuase volume was pegged at max in player to bass amp configuration, and no volume control on either device could bring it down. I'm stupid with amplification, but do know I don't want my head blown off. What is resolution, if any? Thanks!!
