I know, right? That's exactly the thing - the way the logic of subscription services, someone who wasn't looking for Kurosawa would never come across him. It's very different from, say, shelf-browsing at a store.

In fact, the reason I got prodded into looking up the films was because of this song -

Pretty funny to use a clip from a movie that was basically a remake of Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress.

I discovered that they are not available to stream on Netflix. Now if you hunt around, you'll find them on various other subscription services.

I am currently not using any of the streaming services, and this is the reason why. My colleagues (both younger and older) always react shocked and say: "But there's nothing on [regular] TV, at least with Netflix you can watch what you want!" Which is definitely not the case. You can watch what Netflix wants you to watch.

I know the same argument goes for TV, in a sense, but hey there's tons of channels and if there is nothing interesting on ... I don't watch it! With Netflix (and other services, I am sure - but this is the main one in my neck of the woods) people seem to watch it cos they have it. "Know any good series we can watch?" No.
