I got banned from a local venue for smashing a 7 string guitar on stage for 2 weeks. I only got let back in because I tipped big and was a pretty cool guy with the bartender.

Okay. This was a fail. No guitar was smashed, from what I can see. Of course, most guitar smashers put stress points into the guitar ahead of time, you know.
If the band is any good they gear the set list to the audience. It's not "censorship" ... it's propriety. No, we've never been censored. For a larger discussion has your band ever been censored? My first band had a song where we had to change the words for a school performance to Wicked Witch, rhymed with a word starting with letter B. Actually a few months before I joined it but the situation was local lore for a time.
I suppose irony is lost on some people.I played in a country project where the BL wanted to start pushing a "family friendly" image. The bass player who replaced me is a young, comely female. The BL doesn't allow her to wear shorts on stage because it's "slutty." When my old drummer told me this, I laughed my ass off, because I sometimes wore a Suicide Girls shirt on stage, which definitely isn't family friendly.

Got slapped down in junior high over a book report. We were told to read a book and do a report. I read The Godfather and when I started to present my report, my teacher heard the name of the book and stopped me on the spot. I was assigned another book and the school changed their policy to book reports done on a pre approved list of books.
They were so mad. It was hilarious at the time but in retrospect I lost a nice instrument.
I know. Someone could have gotten hurt. It seemed like a good idea at the time and that nothing could go wrong with any of it.There was nothing hilarious about any of that.
