I also just want to make clear that I would not have even bothered giving my critical 2 cents if I didn't think it was good music to begin with. Take it all with a grain of salt, of course.

I also agree with above poster about acoustic guitars - always mic them in studio environments, IMO. Piezo/preamp is an uphill battle to sound good, to my ears anyway.

And yeah, tons of classic rock guitar cabs were mic'd with SM57's as well.

There is a Youtube channel, "Circle of Tone", that guy is amazing. He attempts to reverse engineer (electric) guitar tones, sometimes quite successfully.

I like the idea of Lucky Saturday, but it doesn't flow well. Too choppy, too many syllables. But change it to "Saturday Luck" and now it flows like a dream.

In any case, don't worry about the name too much. A band that plays great music can turn a bad name into a good name. Just pick one and get back to making the music great.

there's a great thread in bass humour about band names...granted it says "dad band names", but there are clever ideas in there.

although I also think this, presuming the name isn't too complicated to remember, offensive or just plain stupid:

1. A great name will not help a poor to mediocre band
2. A bad name does not hold back a good band.

I have a rule about band names: if the first reaction when you say the name is "huh?", then it's time to rethink the name.

bearfoot, I absolutely appreciate anyone taking time to listen and offer feedback. I'll check out the Circle of Tone channel too. I think I can probably learn some tidbits about tone from someone reverse engineering different tones.
