changing tubes in a SVT-CL mid 90's

If you are talking about the orange glow at the centre of the tube elements that's the heater. If it's not lit then the tube is bad. A correctly operating tube should have a blue glow within the envelope and no hint of red on the plate.

as for the retainers on the tube, how do i get those off?

yeah all of the other tubes have a noticeable glow to them except this one, im hoping this is the problem.

There should be a clasp that you just pry open with your fingers.

mine are brackets the go on the tope attached to springs

Oh, well never mind then Haven't got my Heritage CL yet, was sort of guessing that they had the same kind in my 69. See if this helps...page 7:

it says lift up and move to the side, im lifting up but i feelike theres no where for them to go, should i unhook the springs or lift it up with one hand and take the tube with the other?


hopefully someone with experience with a mid 90's svt-cl can point me in the right direction!

I just lifted them up and off the tubes and set them to the side of each tube. No disconnected springs, inconvenient but works.

there is a resistor that should be checked if you have a bad output tube

taking it to a tech is worth the peace of mind imo

then you'll know it's working right and all you have to worry about is getting your EQ adjusted right

If the resistor blows (and it doesn't always), you'll know. They don't always blow, either.
