Wow, I did say best of all time. (one of) I imagine it's possible that someone at the board over at wgbh fm had just read on the news feed that CM had passed. It was the weekend and Eric in the Evening jazz show was about to start... I would Love to see a documentary on how that album was made. Very compositional with all that wisdom & firepower on hand (Elvin and Saunders).(I mean it's not a usual Sonny Sharrock album, maybe it was Lazwell doing like what he did for j Lydon and Ginger Baker?
Did you ever hear These excellent pieces of npr bumper music? an Aaron Copeland cover, Bill's band plus Guy and Don and more Bill with Ron Miles (cornet) who died a few weeks ago, so salute for him too.

My love of Frisell started with that period at about that same point as the Sharrock stuff (specifically the live trio album with Driscoll and Baron). Sharrock came first - Frisell was (to me) a natural development in my taste.
