Throw a set of emg geezer butler pj's in that 2b and be prepared for some passive sonic goodness.

Personally, I have yet to find a bass those pickups don't sound good in. The OEM pups are a little flat sounding to me. These add a great flavor to the bass. I'm normally an active preamp guy, but I don't miss anything with these in my 2b

In one of my 2B's (I have 3), I swapped the stock pickups for some passive DiMarzio's and it was a big improvement - to my ears.

In my other 2Bs, I installed EMG Active-X pickups with an EMG BTC system. I really like this combination.

I have one bass, a Thunderbird, that doesn't have a battery in it. I rarely play it because i have a second TBird that has a preamp in it. There's so much more control and range of tones that it's hard to describe the difference.

Hey noob here, I'm watching a Charvel Eliminator on Ebay but the seller is want's 599 w/ hard shell case plus shipping. It's my understanding that these resale for low 300s so this one seems over priced. Am I correct in this assumption?

To me, yes especially if it isn’t mint, but I’m cheap.

It's in mint condition but still even with the case I'm thinking high 3s to 400.

That seems a bit steep, but I have noticed the Charvels slowly going up in price a touch over the last few years. Who knows? They might go the way of the Peavey T-40's someday.

there is one on there that is 569 in blue, also another blue one with some dings for starting big of 115 with only a couple days left..

Where is the one for 599?

I've been emailing the guy with the one for 115. He says the previous owner converted it to a VVT and the fourth knob does nothing. He described it as "playing like a dump truck".

He may have changed the price 'cause his listing on Reverb is still 599.

a dump truck?...lol I told him it was VVT even before I bought it and offered to put one of my spare preamps back in it. He said no as he wanted to leave it passive...funny stuff.

Yep it was mine first and he got it cheap

Weren't all the Charvel eliminators made in Japan and isn't that blue color fairly common?

all MIJ and all common colors. I have seen red,white,blue,black...maybe an odd color sometime in the past I just don't remember

Yeah, the guy on ebay with the over priced one (it's back up to 599 as of this morning) is claiming his is rare since it was made in Japan and is blue. I wanted to call him out on it but wanted to be sure I was right. As Davy Crockett said; "Be sure you are right, then go ahead".

I would have to say 400 or so with a case. Shipping is insane priced anymore thanks to the price hike this month for UPS/Fedex, hell even the USPS wants more now.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the free market and the true value of something is what someone is willing to pay for it. I just can't abide seeing something misrepresented. I try assiduously to hold myself to that standard.

To that end and full disclosure, don't let the use of "assiduously" fool you, I'm really a dullard.

Here's a modded oddity:

I bought this bass in Berlin back in February. Seller was its second owner, a guitarist that gave up on learning bass; said the previous guy had stripped its original finish and applied a matte nitro clear finish (weird choice, because the body wood is not pretty and composed of several contrasting pieces), swapped the bridge pickup for a Grover Jackson pup and stopped halfway through doing the Marcus Miller mod. The 2-way switch is for series/parallel wiring, controls are VVTT and it is passive.

It cost me a mere 130 euros. It's rocking Chromes now, which cost about a third of what I paid for this bass!

I plan on using this as a platform for modding; next step should be routing new pickup holes at the 24th and 36th fret harmonic (Ric 4001 pickup positions), into which its pickups will be placed.
