As I said I like condenser mic's although I am so glad that most people using piezzo! I get compliments about my sound from sound dudes saying that I actually sound like a double bass. Thanks to my little sweetheart treasure! DPA4099B.
Timo Bee,
The DPA is a quite remarkable design. I have one and I really like it. If you are going FOH then it's one of the finest condenser microphones on the market in it's price range. I can definitely get a great sound from my Realist Piezo as well as long as it's in the middle range volume wise.
In my experience with my bass and amp trying to play at high volumes with a Piezo doesn't work because the tone quality changes as you increase the volume. Fortunately, I don't usually have to play at those levels without the support of a larger P.A.. When I do I will usually pull out F Deck's HPF preamp since using the higher 10 megohm setting will smooth out the sound and remove the Peizo honk that comes from playing at high volumes. At those levels the DPA will also feedback running it through an amp, so it's a wash for me with the mic.
