Cheap-ish, 50-ish watt amp recommendations?

The smallest amp I've ever practiced with was around 150 watts and it was just enough to get by. I once tried to do an "apartment practice" with an Ampeg BA-108 and a guitarist... it didn't work out, like at all. Save yourself the pain or ruining amps/cabs and save up for something more robust. OR get something lite now just to woodshed with and then get something more suitable later when you want to jam with friends.

I'm going to go against the majority.

With a decently controlled drummer (I'm not talking super soft here) my practice rig keeps up fine. Single 15" 65 watt combo (Washburn). This is an alice cooper tribute so it isn't smooth jazz or anything else super quiet.

I presume that the speaker in the combo is pretty efficient and the tone I.use has a lot of mids. But it works.

Oh yes you can! Fender Rumble Baby, Yeah!
 Fender Rumbles Don't Cost A Million $$$! They Just Sound Like They Do!

The 1x15 is $400. Not expensive but not what I would call cheap if we're talking about $150 for used Peavey and Crate.

Also, I wasn't too impressed with the feel of the knobs on the Rumble. They didn't feel very durable. And the Rumble's reputation for being an at home practice amp that I've never actually seen anyone play live kind of steered me away from them. Why didn't they change the name? I think that would have helped sales quite a bit.

Rumble's reputation as an excellent gig-rig is soaring! Starting with the V2 350 combo and 350 head + Rumble 410 cab really put Rumble on the club musician's map. Now the new Rumble 500 has taken the bass world by storm and is the world wide market leader. Fender can't make them fast enough. Even a year later they continue to fly off the shelves and retailers and e-tailers are more often out of stock then they are in stock.

Pop over to the Fender Rumble Club and see what working musicians are saying, and read their gig reports. I rarely play out any more, but when I do it's with a Rumble 350 and a pair of Rumble 112 Neos. Plus Fender Rumbles have 12 year record of rock solid reliability and one of the best warranties in the business.

Wow! That's some serious Marketing lingo you got there lol. Did you copy/paste it right from Fender's website?
 Anyone have a buzzword bingo card?

It's easy when all you have to do is tell the truth. I can't tell you how many Fender Rumble Club members have come from other brands, and are super pleased with the tone; volume, and overall quality of both the sound and the build. I'm even stunned at the gigs people are playing with the Rumble 100 1x12 combo! It's amazing! Principal Engineer Dave Lewis and his design team at Fender have really outdone themselves with the new V3 Rumbles. They are well worth an audition.

Hope you don't take offence to this, just having a little fun, and I'M SICK OF SHOVELING THIS %$%^ SNOW!!

"Briggs & Stratton's reputation as an excellent storm-rig is soaring! Starting with the Elite Series™ 7000 Watt Portable Generator and 32" Professional-Duty Two-Stage Snowthrower really put Briggs & Stratton on the New England home owner’s map. Now the new Elite Series™ PRO 2138 38 Snowblower has taken New England by storm and is the world wide market leader. Brigg’s and Stratton can't make them fast enough. Even a year later they continue to fly off the shelves and retailers and e-tailers are more often out of stock then they are in stock."
