Yeah, and the white Jazz next to it is my other fretless, which I have no intentions of selling. Besides, at 10.5 lbs, it's not what you'd want to be playing all the time on long gigs.

oook, so I bought a bass today!! Took me a lot of traveling back and forth (and getting lost, but I'm used to that) but eventually I decided on getting it.
It's a fretless leftie Fender. JB62-FL/LH.
Can't really find anything about it online though.
It says Crafted in Japan on the back of the neck, so I guess it's one of the Japan-only basses (hence why I can't find it on Fenders website)?? Or perhaps I'm just not looking the right places.
I got it for ¥40,000 which is around $400, so I think it was a good deal...?
Umm.. what more... I have to get an amp tomorrow. Not having an amp takes away a little bit of the fun, I think...

the FenderBoys will tell you exactly what that is very soon....

I like anything sunburst, so it is a slick color scheme for sure, and there's LOTS of people who play those things for ALL kinds of music..

I just got a Washburn T24 and find it very good for principiant (I am one myself). I mean good for the price I payed it (under 200£)

Yeah I think (hope) it was a good find, and that I will be happy with it. I'm pretty sure I will.

Tomorrow I have to buy a strap and an amp (and cables of course.) I'm a bit in doubt about which amp to buy though. A friend of a friend (he plays the bass as well) recommended I just buy a small portable amp to begin with, since I'll just be playing in my room anyway. But I'm not sure what is good and what's not. Shall I just go for some $100 amp or cheaper? Or more expensive?
I was considering orange, but their amps are a bit big for right now, I think... hmm..

Looks like a very good deal. That bass is definitely NOT available in the US. If it were, I'd have bought one, instead of spending twice as much to make my own. As for my bass, I was thinking $250 + shipping.

I have this catalog where it says that the market price for the bass is ¥99,750 (approx. $950), so if that's true then I made a pretty good deal.
I actually asked the guy in the shop how it could be so cheap (before I knew the market price, just figured $400 was cheap for a lefty fender) and he told me it was because it was used.
It doesn't seem very used though, so, yeah.. probably just been gently used and idk... doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it (to my untrained eye).
It also came with a pickguard that I can put on if I want to (which I don't, at least not atm). But here's a picture anyway. haha yes, that was just an excuse to post another picture of my new baby..

Being a lefty in Japan is not easy =(
I think I've been to around 20 instrument shops (not kidding here) and very VERY few of them had any lefty basses. Do you know any shops other than Taniguchi Gakki?

I live in one of the biggest cities in the world, and I would be lucky if I found more than a handful of lefty basses. My local Guitar Center only has two very low-end Ibanezs.

Fender Japan makes many lefties, most of which are not available in the US. You actually have more options than us in the US do in terms of Fender style instruments.

I know you already got a bass, but Ishibashi Music is another big retailer with lefty Fenders.
