so i decided that i absolutely have to have a muteable tuner now. i've been using a korg ca-30 for years and it's been great, but let's face it...it's good enough but not very versatile. so now that i got this nifty neato vt deluxe, i've decided to get a muteable tuner that i can leave on my pedalboard and plug into the fx loop of the vtd.
however, as you all well know, most of them are pretty pricey, and pricey in a tuner is what i absolutely don't want. the ca-30 tunes my basses just fine, so i don't need a peterson or turbo super stomp or whatever. just your basic decent tuner that's accurate and muteable. true bypass would be nice just in case i forget to turn off the loop, but i can even do without that.
unfortunately, an hour or two of research leads me to two brands i swore i would never buy from...be******er and ibanez. the b company has one called the tu-300 that is most likely a boss ripoff, and the i company has one called the lu20, which aside from its odd form factor looks pretty nice. my morals can always be compromised for a good bargain, so i'm considering sucking it up and getting one of these.
the b tuner makes me want to get it more since it's a regular pedal shape and $10 less. but the reviews on the lu20 seem slightly better, mostly because of its truer bypass than the tu 300. i can deal with a not so true bypass since the vtd's loop is switchable, i suppose, and even though the b tuner is plastic, it seems to get decent enough reviews for its sturdiness.
so what say you, talkbass opinion leaders? b or i? and additionally, if you can think of a tuner IN THAT GENERAL PRICE RANGE that blows away either of these, please suggest it. thank you for all your help in advance, and thank you in advance for not trying to sell me on your favorite $80+ tuner.
