I'm glad you asked this because I think I'm going to pick one up tomorrow and will need the settings everyone suggests to try it out. When you try yours, can you post your settings on this thread so that I can try it out as well?
Will do, Dallas (we play this Friday and I'll post sometime Saturday). I've been reading through the manual (my H2 is also supposed to arrive this afternoon) and I'm a little confused about the difference between the Auto-Gain, Limiter and Compressor functions. Might have to take a few breaks at practice to listen to what's been recorded and adjust on the fly.
Got the H2 yesterday and played with it a little last night. Was easy to set it up and I believe I'll try the following settings Friday night at our practice session...
Mic = Surround 4-channel set up in the middle of our 40' x 40' space (we practice in a sort of circular setup with our trio...I will have to move my cabinet over a bit to hit more of the backside of the H2 mics but drums/guitar are already in a good place for 360-degree recording)
AGC/Comp/Limiter = Set to "Limiter (Concert)" mode (will try that setting first before any of the Auto-Gain or Compressor functions)
Rec File = WAV 44.1/24-bit (I have decent sound editing software on my laptop, so I'll try working with the separate files before I go the mp3 route)
Mine came with 1 GB SD card (the advertisement was for a 512MB card, so it was a pleasant surprise to have a bit more storage capacity). Based on the file settings for 24-bit, the 1GB card should have a little over an hour of recording time (1:03 to be exact) -- more than enough for a good test of the sound/recording capability. Since we truly suck at this point
and haven't played together for very long, I'm probably not going to share the files themselves, but I promise to let ya know how it all worked for us and whether we learn anything about the settings.

Worked extremely well! The unit gives a true recording and it's pretty easy to quickly play back what you just put down. I did have some difficulty in getting the unit to switch between record & play modes and back to the "menu" functions (had a couple of "dead air" recordings that I had to delete) but that's probably more a function of my unfamiliarity with the device and "fat fingers". The 1GB SD card (included in the package) actually gives about 47 minutes of recording at the 4-channel, 44-16 bit settings, which is fine for what we're using it for. At first we did a quick test on a song and found that that "Limiter (Concert)" setting was good but we needed to set the general mic recording levels down to 85 (from the preset 100) and that my cabinet was too loud (dang!) -- but that was the only adjustment we needed to make during the evening. Went on battery power only (didn't bother to plug the AC adaptor in) and they went "dead" at about 4 hours of off/on/record/playback operation.
Over the weekend, I played with the Front/Rear WAV files in my Roxio sound editor and layered them to burn to 192 mp3s to share with my bandmates. The only change I made was to add just a little EQ shape to the files, but you can certainly do much more with the files. I didn't use the H2 itself for editing, though it looks like there are several features available in the unit to do similar functions.
All in all, I was impressed with the quality and relative ease of use. Will fiddle around with it some more this weekend's practice. Very happy with my purchase.
