I have a used Acoustic B200 combo. 200w with a 15" speaker. I think I got it for $160 on CL. I've seen some recent sales on ebay for $150. Sounds great and gets the job done at gigs.

Blankandson said:I didn't see if you mentioned what your bass is. I used a very cheap Berringer 40 watt combo for both practice and small gigs with a passive bass and it was OK for that. But it couldn't even take my active Warwick at low volumn without breaking up. Is your bass active / passive / or both?
BassBob1 said:You didn't really mention your price range but with guitar center promotions/trade in deals the GK MB combos are great. I have a MB210 combo and it most definitely keeps up with a drummer and guitarist using a loud tube amp.

If you can find a TNT 150 with a Scorpion or Black Widow speaker they will do you pretty well and should be somewhere around $125-150. I've had 2 TNT's, an early 80's 130 and a 90's 150, the last one I bought had a Scorpion, was $150, and was mint as mint gets. Both of them are as loud as any 200 Watt combo I've ever seen. The TNT 150 is almost as loud as my SWR Working Pro 400 paired with my 8 ohm Fender 410 Pro (the SWR runs @ 250 watts at 8 ohms).
Imo they are usually the best bang for the buck you can find.
A real workhorse often overlooked is the SWR Workingman's series. 10, 12 and 15. I think you'd be happiest with the 15. XLR out, bulletproof, and they'll rattle the floor if you need it. They often can be had (used) for south of 200 bucks.
That had to be a special price because it's been discontinued. Too bad, looks real sharp.
Look for an old peavey. Lots of wattage for the money. Not the best tone in the world, not bad either, and will suit you well for rock.
