Cheapest/easiest way to get Taurus sounds?

Hey, I got the BASYN kit and I'm not certain it's actually working.

Is the LED supposed to go on when you plug in the adapter?

Any thoughts on installation would be appreciated.

Got it going. Looks like it's not (-) polarity in the centre. Modded the ac adapter and behold - working midi pedals.

The Basyn kit comes with a connector. You just stick the wires into the connector, one for each pedal switch plus the common.

I MIDI merge mine with a small keyboard controller and feed it into my Roland GR-1 guitar synth. It's got some nice Oberheim-ish patches. Great for wailing metal guitar solos!!! ha ha ha

Because the MTI pedals had a case already I was able to mount the Basyn kit in it. Not a pro job, cause I did it, but functional. The Basyn kit works perfectly. (and no I am not affiliated with them, whoever they are) I bought mine off eBay.

The kit also allows you to use the pedals to select the octave on the fly. Nice feature.

One question - what do you recommend doing as far as the connection between the note switches and the board? Do you use the same connector in your pre-built controllers that you include in the kit? Any chance I could get a picture of how that's set up?

Also, you don't have a drilling template for mounting the circuit board, do you?

edit: As for synths, the Mopho is going to be the jam, I think. I love the Micron but it's such a pain to program and you don't really need the keys in this application.

Yikes! Sorry I didn't see this earlier. Yes, we use the same 14 pin wiring connector on our kits and controllers. Its really easy to use with no soldering required. Just string the end off the wire, insert it and pull it down through the side of the connector. And yes, we can give you a drilling template.

Have you always used that connector? I bought a kit from you guys who knows how long ago, and the wire connector was kind of a pain to get put together. I ended up using a ribbon cable with punch connectors and I think that's going to work. What gauge wire do you use in your homebuilt ones?

I'll be wanting to buy another kit here soon, is there a way to also get the AC adapter you include with your pre-built controller? I want to make sure that's right.

I probably should have just gone with the pre-built kit to save hassle but now that I have the pedal part all built it'd be an even bigger waste. AH WELL.

website says they anticipate shipping toward end of 2009 - if the MP201 release is any indicator, they will probably miss it!

I'm sure if they shipped my bro would have called...but who knows?

How do you use a VST plug in without a laptop or computer? Is there a sound module or portable emulator that you can get? I would love to find a small box that could load with VSTs triggered by pedals.

Well that was the issue I had. Works perfectly. The band got all fired up since we play a few old 70's prog tunes. Now I need to find a decent and affordable synth module. I'd like to keep it on a pedal board if it's small enough. I don't want to use my wife's Yamaha Motif Rack....it's so sweet but I'm not risking an argument when I delete any programs accidental like .
