This is typical of Alembic quality. I don't particularly care for the triple omega body; the omega cut behind the bridge makes for a very long reach to the first fret. Alembic will make anything you want. The company has a number of fairly typical body shapes as well. I'm partial to the Europa/Elan body shape. The first two below are in Macassar ebony and vermillion, respectively; or, for the metal folks, black (like those ordered by Jason Newstead)

Jason and Cliff both tried Alembics. Cliff’s was stolen and never replaced. Jason couldn’t tour with his because it was too heavy and he had budding shoulder issues, and he basically destroyed every bass he took out and didn’t want to waste his Alembics like that. I thought he had sold them off, seeing as how every time he reaches for a bass, it’s always the Sadowsky.

Alembics and Ritter are two companies who make amazing instruments that I will never have the luxury of affording, and wouldn’t buy even if I could because they aren’t who I am.

Haha ok you got me thinking...
My first good bass was a new 1972 Fender Precision bass, bought for about $350 Canadian ($300us)

So in those days my gigs paid about $50. A special one was $75. I remember going on dates with a lady where an awesome gourmet meal was $50 for two.

Those days playing 6 or 7 gigs bought a new 1972 Fender bass. Damn. What happened?

In both of the Alembics above, it appears they both come with Fender flats? Is that right or something else?

The strings with turquoise silk are Alembic’s house brand strings. From their own description ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]), they seem to be very similar or identical to GHS Pressurewounds.

When I was much younger I used to GAS for a triple-omega Alembic. But I played a Bruce Becvar fretless that used that same body shape (Bruce used to work for Alembic in the 1970s; he's the guy who built John Paul Jones' triple-omega 8-string bass) and that kinda killed the attraction for me: Those cutouts are gorgeous, sensual, lovely to look at and to run your hands across...but against your thigh or your ribcage when actually playing the bass they become a liability!

Now, that 8-string standard large point body in post #105, I could probably get along with that!
