Ha ha - Yeah, it is a neat looking instrument. These are extremely rare. Mouradian builds awesome instruments. Famous users include Chris Squire from Yes and Pat Badger from Extreme. Both badass bassists!

Actually - Jon Mouradian sent me an email after my initial inquiry to their website and the possibility of them building me one. Although he stated they will not be tooled for small scale production for about 18 months, He said he had an old one for sale, that my timing was right on the money. Hence, I obviously sent him the $. He's a heck of a nice guy. Looking forward to this bass! More pics to follow once I get my hands on her.
Got this last week, day before Thanksgiving and I haven't put it down since. This is a waycool instrument. Awesome sound.

Awesome. You should start a club. It'll be small, but that helps keep the riff-raff out. Though I suppose you'd better not let me in, if you want to keep riff-raff out.
Mine. Jon set it up exactly the way I like, low action with just the right amount of the secret ingredient to a great rock bass tone. Like I would have set it up myself, if I could have managed it. The gold hardware is aftermarket, but all the same model so no new holes were made, and I have the originals stored safely. Looks sharp with Optima strings.It was a 2 hour drive for me, but well worth it. Great guys. Nice little shop too, some interesting guitars and basses for great-to-reasonable prices.
I'm not normally a pick user, but this is the ultimate rock and roll - pick - tube amp bass.
I've been considering insurance for my basses, but no idea what this one's worth.. would you mind saying (PM is fine if you don't want to say publicly) what you paid for it? If you'd rather not, that's OK. I could tell you what I paid for mine, but you'd probably hate me.

Nice score, WW. The CS-74 is certainly a unique design...can't say they ripped off anyone else's style. I'd rock one!
I remember reading a while back that Mouradian was trying to ramp up production again, but were doing enough service, renovations, etc., that new stuff was on the back burner. Perhaps that'll happen at some point, even in limited runs.

Jim and Jon are great people and they both do fantastic work at a very fair price. That bass is pretty sweet.

Wow Great Bass! I paid a good amount. Rare instruments. I guess anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay. I paid $3 large. I know, I know, now you're gonna tell me you got yours for 200 bucks?

Not 200, but not 3k either.. was around $700, used at a local shop with a particularly ignorant staff. I didn't feel bad as they were known to prey on their customers' ignorance when they could make a quick buck.
What's your got for electronics? Jon said the EMG BTC in mine was not stock, it should have been passive. Actually sounds better passive, I put in a push/pull pot so I only need to run through the preamp if I need the EQ control.
$3K is a good hunk of cash, but these days plenty of quality basses can set you back that or more, and even then you aren't getting something this rare. You luck even more than money to get one. It will be great if they are able to get into even limited production again, but I wonder when they will find the time with all their other business. Even if they do, you've still got one of the old ones, so I doubt the value will go down. I wonder if a new one would have the same funky neck construction.
The following is as I understand it, anyone can feel free to correct me.
I have read that the wood was maple. Neck through construction, with what Jon described as "liquid aluminum" in the neck. Apparently you do not want to take off the fretboard on one of these, or the T-1000 trapped inside will get out. I will say it's been quite stable throughout the years I've owned it. Not immobile like an all composite Steinberger, but much better than my neck-through Alembic, and capable of much lower action. Due to this construction, they are a bit different to set up, the neck doesn't quite react to truss adjustments like a typical wood neck.

Now I just need a Trace V-8 to go with it, that's about the equivalent in the amp world for coolness and rarity.
