Check this out: Ibanez ATK Sound Samples

The [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] home page has updated with 18 sound samples of the ATK. There are six different grooves using the 3 different pickup settings.

Just click on the "ATK Basses Sound Sample" and have fun!

The bass sounds great! I know what I am saving up for next

The first part of the Japanese text says,

"Triple-coil pickup, 3-way tone character switch, Active 3-band EQ..."

The rest is in Kanji and with vocab that hurts my brain

Thanks Marcus.

I see this features the ATK with the Rosewood f/b.

If I understand things right, most ATKS in the USA are sold with maple f/b whereas those sold at GC have the Rosewood????

I feel the rosewood makes the difference for an improvement of slap tone over the older maple f/bs ( one of which i have )

I've owned my ATK for almost a year now (it's a '95 Korean model, I think) and it can do just about anything well. I can go from blues to slap to punk with a switch flip and a few knob turns.

More amazing is the way the thing plays - the action on mine is ridiculously low yet I get no fret buzz. It has truly made me a better player as I no longer fight with my bass.

I was just thinking about the tone of this bass, and if it had a neck pickup it would give smiths and cirri a nice run for their money in the gospel department. I think that I am going to hold out for a double H version.

Heh, yah, I dunno if there'll ever be an HH ATK, but the reviews on the ATK750-KOA HS ATK have been extremely positive. Altho, of course, that's some serious $ to spend.

I don't foresee an HH version. I do recall someone, years ago, and I don't remember if it was here on TB, putting another triple-coil pup in the neck position. A search may turn up something. I would look, but I really don't care enough to. I've been happy w/ my ATK305 for about 5 years now, and don't see a need to change anything. The pickup and preamp are both killer, the through-body or top load option is nice, the spacing's a bit tight and the bass is a little on the heavy side, but I still prefer it to any EBMM SR5 I've played.

Going back to those clips, the rosewood board seems to have a fairly strong effect on the tone versus my maple board. Interesting. I may want to get my hands on a rosewood board ATK305.

Those are great clips, and very accurate. I know I have gotten those tones from an ATK, and I may soon pick up another one. I am a sucker for a Stingray sort of tone. The one thing those clips missed is that the ATK is very capable of sounding mellow. It can also get a Jaco sort of tone too.:)
