I've been so busy with other basses lately that I realized I had been kinda neglecting my Chi bass (see page 1). So I took it out, put some of Pat Wilkins' custom Nickels on it, and took it to rehearsal. I'd not played it through my current rig (Carvin MB15/15 stack) nor had I played it with the current 6 piece cover band.

Wow! Sounds killer! My favorite setting was Neck PU full humbucker, Bridge tapped as single coiled and rolled off just a hair. Huge, huge sound.

I am down to only one chi bass in the herd...
A vintage burst and BEM...4407 US lakland.
I hope to NEVER sell it...my favorite bass out of many.
Chibuckers are amazing pups.

I would too. I had singles in my US Decade...Liked the buckers in my 44-07 better.
Decade went bye bye , 44-07 is still here.

I like them both the same. Different tools. The singles in my Jazz rock! The vintage Chisonics are very nice too.

Anyone compared the standard Chi's to the vintage set? Is there much of a difference? I'm thinking of getting a cheapish semi hollow body to drop them into.

I've owned both. Vintage are more round. More Darkstarish. Great pickups!

Finally got some Chi Sonics. Pretty keen to drop them into a bass to try them out. Having a problem though, and would appreciate some advice.

I ordered the hollow body set. However there doesn't seem to be a way to adjust the pickup height from the mounting ring. It looks to me like you might be able to adjust it using the screws on the ring, but they're too short to have really any effect:

Am I missing something here? I see from other's pics that it's of course possible to lower the pickups, but for the life of me I can't figure out how it would work without longer screws.
